Treasure Map Generator

Far out upon the sea, they find a ship listing to the side. Its mast is broken and the sail, decorated with a skull and crossbones, billows sadly across the deck. This ship has been abandoned by its previous owners, either by choice or by force. Below the deck is the captain's quarters. A rickety desk that has warped from years of exposure to the salty sea air is in the front of the small room. Old crumbling letters sit atop it with wax that has long since crumbled. At the bottom of the desk is a drawer that is extremely difficult to open. In the drawer are papers that contain many references to a long-dead pirate. At the very back of the drawer is a thinly rolled piece of leather tied with a ribbon. Unrolling the leather reveals a map. Finally, they have directions to this famous pirate's treasure that many have sought but none have found! Give your adventurers some treasure to find. Select the "Get Directions" button to generate detailed instructions to the nearest ...

Tavern Encounter Generator

The tavern has small lanterns on the rickety tables. There are faded tapestries hung all through the building depicting battles of long ago. The main room is made of small wood slats with a huge fireplace at one end. A pot of suspicious-smelling food is simmering above the fire. At one of the tables closest to the fire, three halflings sit nursing tankards of ale. Sitting with them is a huge Goliath that looks even more intimidating than the company he is keeping. He drinks nothing and sits with his arms crossed. His body is visible through the armor swirl with night black tattoos. The halflings are dressed in leaves, with twine twisted around their torsos, and their hair is long and knotted. They seem to be celebrating. The Goliath doesn’t seem amused. Four humans that are sitting near them keep glancing at the Goliath uncomfortably. The humans have plates of what looks like roasted rats sitting at their table. Their noses curl as they examine their food. A jubilant bright red kobold ...

NPC Encounter Generator

Players love stopping random NPCs and asking them questions. This can get a bit tricky for the Dungeon Master because who has time to plan out what every NPC is doing and what their motives are. Fear not, DM, for The Fates have created this generator so that you can give your players information about what an NPC is up to in a hurry.

Cavern Encounter Generator

The cavern is dark and ominous. The torches begin to dim as the party enters through the stone passageway. There is a steep decline into the center of the cavern. Trickling water can be heard in the distance and a slow wind blows dust from where they have entered. The stone door slides shut with a thud as small pebbles rain down on them from above. The diminishing torches cause their large shadows play across the walls. In the center of the cavern, many passageways branch off. The one straight ahead seems to tilt upwards but is just as dark as the others. The passage to the left has an odor of unwashed bodies emanating from it. The passage to the right leads further down into the depths of the cavern. There are empty sconces on the walls and a discarded suit of crumbling armor in one corner. The walls have moss crawling downwards from the ceiling and the temperature in the room quickly drops once the exit door closes. Give your next cave adventure some flavor with ideas from our Cavern...

Cults & Cultists Generator

In the derelict catacombs beneath the bustling city, a group of the city’s most elite meets. They are unidentifiable because each wears a velvet robe with a hood that descends over their faces. A hunched figure stands at the front. He sits atop the largest tomb openly disrespecting the dead that sleeps there. He addresses his congregation with a nasal voice. “You have been summoned here to discuss our current progress. There has not been enough violence to even consider you a part of this holy group. People in the streets outright defy the laws we have set forth. Even as you sit there, voices speak to me and those voices want the blood of the non-believers. You are to get rid of any monuments to the false gods that you come across. You will identify yourself to your fellow congregation by wearing a lily in your hair or on your lapel. If you do not follow these orders, woe is to you. We are here to end all who refuse to see that I alone am god.” The crypts are dark but as the old man sp...

Haunted Forest Encounter Generator

They walk through the darkening forest. The bare branches are reaching towards them as they scramble through. The wind whistles through the trees and they hear faint words being spoken. They come to a bare patch of ground that is clear of bushes and brambles. Across the clearing is a crumpling ruin that looks quite ancient. Long-forgotten gods crumble at the entrance and the name of a long dead emperor is etched above the door. When they enter they hear scratching sounds. The walls are covered in unknown languages that could be invitations or warnings. Deeper into the winding ruins the scratching sounds become louder. Long dead humans begin to scramble toward them. The skin has fallen from their faces, their bodies are decaying, and they are covered in tattered shrouds. The monsters mouth soundless screams and begin to give chase.  Simply saying a forest is haunted is not enough. A DM must give details that pull their players into the scene so that they can picture smelling the tre...

Ancient Scrolls Generator

The once-opulent house is located in an area that used to be only for the wealthy merchants of the city. It has been looted many times and most of the precious items have been stolen or removed. There are many rooms. There are red velvet curtains covering the windows. There is a king-sized bed in the center of the master bedroom. The bedding is lined with gold but is rumpled and it sounds like a family of mice live there now. In the corner of the room sits an ornate desk covered in dust. The handles of the drawers depict a lion in full roar. A dusty rolled-up piece of parchment is found in the bottom drawer. It looks plain from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. The corners of it are bent and even burnt in some places and the scroll is yellowed with age. What information could this scroll possibly contain? Many an adventurer has come across an ancient scroll or two, and if they haven’t, it’s about damn time you throw one their way. The Fates have provided a generator with tons of...
